Thank you for writing. كلاي is a gorgeous kitten!

The third eyelid on her left eye is up, which can happen for several reasons. When BOTH third eyelids are up, it can mean the cat is sleepy, feeling unwell, dehydrated, or has a problem with the eyes or conjunctiva. In kittens, I would also be concerned about a possible upper respiratory tract infection, such as cat flu. Although adult cats can also suffer from cat flu, kittens are more susceptible to the infection as they have usually not received a full vaccination course.

When only ONE third eyelid is up, it is more likely that there is a problem with the eye, such as a scratch or ulcer, so I would recommend making an appointment to have her examined by a vet as soon as possible.

I hope this helps,

Dr Karyn
