Hi Deborah,

It could simply be a coincidence, but if there is a chance that Niki has ingested some insulation, I would get her examined by your vet ASAP.

Depending on the exact material the insulation is made from and how much Niki has eaten (if she has eaten any), it can cause serious inflammation and damage to the digestive tract or form a blockage in the intestine. Some insulation is made from fiberglass - the tiny fragments that cause itching and irritation when it touches your skin - so it can have a similar effect on the gastrointestinal lining - ouch.

Niki may only need to be given something to help line the gut and reduce the inflammation, but I would be phoning your vet to make an appointment now - it's always better to be safe than sorry!

Good luck,

Dr Karyn
